The Left Party in Germany is alleging that cases of Far Right extremism in the Bundeswehr, the country’s army, have almost doubled. About 400 cases are under investigation according to the German media outlet DW.
Germany’s intelligence agency – the Militärische Abschirmdienst – is investigating 431 cases compared to around 275 at the same point last year. Concerns have risen since claims of a plot within the military to assassinate leading politicians and then blame asylum seekers.
Last year, alarm bells rang after Nazi era memorabilia was found at a barracks leading to an investigation.
